I can’t tell you how impressed I am with my Fox River socks- I am now a true believer! I wouldn’t consider myself a picky person. I hate gadgets and gizmos, and gimmicky products in general that claim to take seconds off of your time. I can run for years in worn out shoes without any problem, and ride a pair of shorts to pieces without a need for replacement. So when I listened to the Fox River Rep explain the engineering and technology behind Fox River socks at the team meeting, I naturally became comfortably numb. However, there was something intriguing to me about socks 100 years in the making, and I couldn’t help but pick myself up a pair for a test drive. I chose the low cut, ankle model, size medium for my size 8-8.5 shoe sized feet. They fit quite snug around my foot, and the back part of the sock reaches just below the crown of the shoe. Despite being very thin, I’ve found the socks to be quite strong. I’ve ripped many a thin sock while pulling my toes into the ends of the socks, as well as pulling them up and around my heel, but haven’t had any problems at all with my Fox Rivers. Running in the socks for the first time, I noticed right away that they didn’t move or bunch up in my shoes. It doesn’t happen often to me, but when it does, that little wrinkle that develops in the wrong spot of my sock will drive me absolutely crazy if allowed to go unadjusted. On longer runs I find that I no longer get friction hot spots on the balls of my feet. As a toe runner, I think that I may generate more heat in specific areas than a heel-toe runner might, since the pounding on their feet is distributed over a larger surface area. The material in the socks seems to dissipate the heat and leaves my feet feeling cool and comfortable. I now only run and ride in Fox River socks. I have three pairs now, all the same low cut style, and have nothing but praise for them.
