This is a very honest review of the RS800SD after more than 4 months of serious use. To give some quick background, like many marathoners, I’ve used Garmin running watches for a few years (the 201 & 205). The issue I dealt with was accuracy of current pace as their is a slight delay due to the GPS conversion. With most runs this is not really an issue. But when running tempo or interval paces it becomes very difficult.
Thankfully along came the new Polar. This watch, or should I say computer is feature-packed and accurate!
This watch even displays your stride-rate (cadence). Very cool, especially if you’re really focusing on overall running mechanics.
To truly appreciate the features and capabilities, you do need to refer to the owner’s manual. You will also want to connect it to your computer. This not only allows you to customize the training features of the watch (can even create your own watch faces) but to also download and track your workout progress.
Runner’s World rates this as the top running watch for serious training and I’d have to agree.
Don’t forget, you get what you pay for.
Happy Running,
Mike
