This was a great race. I did it with my husband and one of his co-workers. It was a first half marathon for the two of them and they had agreed ahead of time to stick together and take it easy through this run. For me this was a training run to start out my triathlon season and a chance to take in some more beautiful Vancouver scenery.
The run followed a lot of the same route as the Sun Run 2 weeks previous. We started at the BC place downtown Vancouver, headed west through downtown, China town, Strathcona, Coal Harbour and then through Stanley Park, up to Prospect Point and back to BC place. The race was very well organised and a lot of fun. There was music along the way, as well as well stocked water stations. The race shirts were also really nice (black adidas dry fit).
Overall the course was beautifull, some rolling hills and a longer climb through Stanley Park up to Prospect Point where you get a nice view of North and West Vancouver.
I would recommend this race to anyone looking for a nice, fast and scenic marathon on the west coast. The full marathon is even flatter because the full course bypasses the hill in Stanley Park. I may do this race again next year and opt for the full marathon.
Overall a great day, excellent weather and a lot of fun.
Up next…..cultus lake tri May11, north shore tri May 19 and sprint world championships June 6 in Vancouver.
Ok we’ll pretend not to be jealous with you out in BC! Best of luck at Worlds – Team RF Scott Robinson will be there too!
