Being one of your average age-group triathlete competitors, I’m always trying to find another item that will help my performance without breaking the bank. When I had the opportunity to try a pair of Fox River socks I was thinking to myself, “How can a different design in socks help my performance?” Well they did. From the moment I slipped on a pair I knew these were different from other socks I had tried in the past. The pair that I tried on first was the quarter high, light-weight version.
The positive thing I noticed first was how they form to your feet. The stitching design helped with the overall form……no slipping here. This was a problem for me in the past. I’ve always had my socks shift, causing them to bunch up in one area leading to blisters.
Another positive feature was the light weight design. It almost felt as if I wasn’t wearing anything on my feet at all. Fox River also sells an Ultra-light weight version for those of you that need only a little protection for your feet. This version is very thin but has the support structure of the light weight design. Both versions have all the comfort you’ll ever need.
The third positive feature I found was the material used, a nylon/polyester blend. This helped with the breathability of the socks. After running 42.2 km, this was a very important feature. I even noticed running in high temperatures (above 20C) these socks were very comfortable. They wicked away moisture, leaving my feet dry, free from blisters and any irritations.
After using these socks for the past six months, there weren’t any negative things worth noting. Actually, after only two months I liked these socks so much that I purchased the work/casual version. This pair had the same foot hugging, light weight and wicking ability that my running version had. Being a person that is usually on their feet for a good portion of the day, these socks were what I was looking for. At the end of the day my feet still feel relaxed.
I now own four pairs of Fox River socks, everything from athletic to casual. All are equally well designed and my feet haven’t felt this good in a long time. The price for Fox River socks is about average to a little above average. It’s the price you pay for good quality and well-engineered clothing.
What pair of socks do YOU save for race day? After 25 races this year, there is only one brand I put on my feet on race day – Fox River. Silly of me to own only one pair. When the laundry gremlin hides one of them, there is much angst until the pair is reunited!
So comfortable, at any speed and distance. Nothing else comes close.
Hard to think you could write a article with more than two paragraphs on socks, but these ones make it possible.
