Finally a great new Mizuno shoe for the recovery days for the efficient runner. The brand new model from Mizuno, the Wave Enigma is designed with a forefoot wave plate which was previously only in models meant for bigger guys. Now Mizuno has created a great new shoe that I have been using for a few weeks and I must say that I really do like them.
As much as I love my Wave Precisions and Riders, these are a really nice for longer runs or days when I want a little more under my foot. The forefoot wave plate and flex grooves are designed to enhance your stride. I know it sounds a bit sci-fi but trust me, I loved how they worked. I even used them on a tempo run and was surprised at the fact that I was able to really push the pace. At 12.4 ounces (for the mens model) I was expecting a more sluggish feel but they were quite responsive. The final 2 km’s of the 8km of tempo were 3:40 and 3:35.
And the ‘piece de resistance’ is the stretchable mesh material in the forefoot just like the new Ronin 3 racing flat. This is an awesome feature as your feet are given room to breath and move with a greatly reduced chance of rubbing, blisters or black toenails.
As always, Mizuno truly does innovate and move the running industry forward.
