My experience with the Sable Water Optics started back in 2008. I was at the race expo for my first half ironman in Muskoka and Sable had a display table here with their goggles. I had been using a pair of Speedo’s up to this point but was disappointed with the fitting. The person here, Paul (who turns out to be the owner) suggested I try on a pair of these $50 goggles. I was a bit skeptical at first, but Paul pretty much guaranteed money back if I wasn’t satisfied. I took him up on the offer, and I haven’t swam with anything other than Sables from that point on.
When I first tried these goggles on and in the water, I immediately felt the difference. I didn’t realize how much I had been missing. Firstly, the sections fit perfectly around my eyes and they were actually really comfortable as opposed to having the feeling of my eyes getting sucked out of my face. And secondly, the goggles were so clear that I could see everything around me. It was like putting on a new pair of prescription glasses and seeing everything clearly for the first time. Yes, it was THAT good.
I am also a big fan of their customer support. I’ve had to contact this company a few times to have some parts replaced on the goggles and it was no questions asked. The replies were fast and the replacment parts came within the week. Wow, talk about great customer service! You can tell that this company is run by passion as I’ve seen Paul out surveying on subsequent 70.3’s and other races around the area.
In summary, with the combination of a great product that fits well and great customer service, I highly recommend these goggles to anyone who needs a pair of great goggles. You do get what you pay for. Highly recommended. Goggles reviewed: RS101.
Verdict: BUY.
