There is nothing better than an early summer run with the warm sun kissing your legs fresh from hibernation. The Sugoi 42k is a short with a 3-inch inseam but don’t let that scare you. If you haven’t tried a shorter short this might be the one to try.
These shorts are made for speed. They are nicely designed with good build quality and due to the design of the split, surprisingly good coverage. The 3-inch inseam allows for a fantastic range of motion, which is always good for leg turnover. Inside there’s a key/card pocket and Sugoi’s fast-drying, lightweight liner they call FinoMesh. The elastic waist is very comfortable with a drawstring that isn’t to bulky to be uncomfortable when wearing a water belt.
The standout feature of these shorts is the two 2 rear “quick draw” fuel pockets. They easily carry 2 and in a pinch 4 gels.. They have been constructed on an angle to for good weight distribution yet somehow they sit low enough not to interfere with a water belt.
The only complaint I have is the fit of the lining. It’s ether too big or the cut isn’t quite right and it rides up. Now after you start sweating this becomes less of an issue as the liner becomes damp and sticks to your skin.
Overall, the Sugoi 42k running short is a winner for all running and racing applications. It combines smart, useful features in a go fast package that as the name implies will keep you going for 42k.
