I have been using my Nathan products all summer but for me their major use comes into play with marathon training. I started down the 17 week training path to the Hamilton Marathon on July 8th and my Nathan Speed belt 2 has been with me every step of the way. I have used many fuel belts in my running career, all which have left me very interesting marks on my backside as well as some screaming like a school girl showers after the long run and even some short hot and muggy runs. This is the first one that has not left me scarred, a big feat indeed! I am not very big so fit is important. The traditional clasp does not work for me as the excess belt needs to go somewhere and that somewhere using involves more chafing and marking of my skin. The Nathan Speed Belt 2 with its Velcro closure is perfect. It fits snug and even on those days that I forget to put body glide on my back I have been very pleasantly surprised that there is no chafing and my hot shower after a long run is a wonderful experience. The bottles are to fill up even using powder and they stay closed instead of dripping liquid down my legs like some of the products I have tried. The bottles are easy to grab on the run and get proper hydration.
I also use the Nathan Vapor Shot 10oz. This hand held hydration device is perfect for shorter runs and trail runs. I actually use it the most for travelling as it does not take up much room in my small suitcase for business trips. I travel a bit and always pack my running clothes. Hydration on the run was always an issue and I have tried to run with water bottles or the camel way of no water on way too many occasions. Now I do not have to worry about a wrong turn or running longer than planned provided I make it back for my meeting and or flight!
