The Mizuno Wave Sayonara running shoes were well worth the wait! I was introduced to the new model of this shoe at the spring Running Free team meeting by the Mizuno rep Arnold. He told me they would be available come late June, early July. Although I have been extremely happy running in my Mizuno Wave Riders for the last 3 years, I felt like I wanted a change. What really spiked my interest in the Sayonara was the makeup of this shoe. In the store, it appeared to feel lighter and have more cushioning than the Mizunos I was currently running in. I received a trial pair in the late summer while I waited for my order to come in. The first day I received them was a Saturday morning and I ran 15km in them. Right from the very beginning of the run, I noticed they were extremely comfortable and provided a very light weight, springy, cushioning ride. They fit really nicely to the shape of my foot. They honestly felt like I was running in a pair of very light weight racing flats. In September, I went on trip to England and brought my new shoes with me to run in. I was really quite impressed just how versatile they were. I did a lot of running through small English villages, running on trails as well as running through a lot of fields and sheep pastures in good weather and rainy weather. These shoes were fantastic. They were definitely up to the task in terms of both traction and stability. Again, they provided a light weight, cushioned ride on all different types of terrain. They even maintained their colour without a lot of dirt build up. They are honestly the most comfortable shoes I have ever run in. I must say again that they were worth the wait and the build up to their release was not disappointing. They were all that they promised to be and then some for this runner. I believe Mizuno really struck a home run with the Wave Sayonara. I look forward to running many more kilometres in these shoes. These training shoes could not have come at a better time. Two thumbs up for these shoes and Mizuno. I would highly recommend these shoes!
thanks for the review. I just got mine a day or so ago and can’t wait to give them a try (have to wear out the wave precisions first)
