I just participated in the Elora Canada Day race for the first time. This is a small town race that attracts approximately 200 racers. There is a heavy attendance of locals (Elora, Fergus) probably of whom do the race every year. The atmosphere is very friendly. The organizers do an excellent job. Kit pick up is race morning and was easy. Kit contained a t-shirt, granola bar, candy and the usual race flyers. The course is marked and marshalled very well. The course is approximately half on quiet neighborhood streets and half on trails. You are sent off to sounds of a bagpiper and are greeted twice on the route by more pipers in kilts! It is chip timed. Tons of post race food (oranges, bananas, cookies, baked goods, waters, juice boxes and a free pizza lunch just before the awards ceremony. There is free massages, and finishing medals for all participants. There was also age group medals. This race was fun and a great value (approx. $35). I would recommend it to anyone wanting to make a family day of it as there was also a Canada Day parade and a kids fun run later in the afternoon (geared for younger children).
