Saucony has come up with a solution for those early morning damp runs or those wet days that leave your feet soaked. They have made a Kinvara 7 with Runshield technology that makes them water resistant (NOT waterproof). It makes water bead off the exterior of the shoe keeping your feet dry, that is if your feet don’t sweat too much. The laces are even a different material that don’t absorb water. I haven’t had a chance to run them through any down pours, but I think that any bit of water protection is better than none.
There is no noticable difference in feel between the Runshield version and the regular Kinvara that I noticed. It’s the same super light amazingness (0.2oz heavier) but with added water protection. They also get bonus points for being Team Running Free colours. I’m excited to tryout the Saucony Peregrine 7 Runshield when I get a chance to go see Jodi to get a pair.
