The Divas Running Series came to Canada this summer to host the Divas Half Marathon and 5K in Toronto in June, and with the pink tutus and tiaras I couldn’t resist!
In support of Rethink Breast Cancer, the races were slated to take place on beautiful Toronto Island; however, due to a very rainy spring, race organizers were forced to make a last minute change. They pulled it off in record time, moving the event to the Cherry Street area and the Port Lands. Shuttle buses were organized and I was very impressed with the venue and access to parking and transportation.
As with other women’s events I’ve taken part in, I found the Divas Half to be uplifting and supportive, with runners encouraging each other and cheering each other on. Just before the finish line there was the tiara and feather boa station where runners could get geared up and ready for their amazing finish line photos.
I highly recommend the Divas Half Marathon and 5K next year, when once again they will attempt to run on Toronto Island; it was a well organized and fun day that you could easily turn into a girls’ weekend!
