Brooks Hyperon Max Review

Brooks Hyperon Max Review

I added Brooks Hyperion Max to my running shoe rotation in July.   I was initially drawn to them by the flashy colours.   After running almost exclusively in Altra shoes for over 9 years and having an overuse Achilles tendon injury last year, I needed to branch out into some different brands with different drop heights.  I don’t like to run in the same shoe all the time so I have shoes with drop heights of 0 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm and now these.   I was excited to try the Hyperion Max shoes for a couple reasons:  one was the drop height of 8 mm and the other was the comfort I felt when I tried them on for the first time in store.  These are my first pair of Brooks shoes and while I do not have the same speed as Des Linden, I have a nice smooth fast run when wearing them.  With neutral support and max cushioning, these shoes are great in my rotation for interval runs or for long runs.  These shoes feel weightless! On my first run with them, I had to wear a Brooks shirt so pulled out a Run Happy Singlet.

I initially got them with the intention of running the NYC Marathon in them but am keeping them for training runs instead since I caved to the carbon plate era and have some super shoes for race day instead.

Things I also love:  opening the shoe box and seeing all the details on it of people running on the sides.
