I had the please of getting a lottery to run the Rainbow Trail Run held at Earl Rowe provincial Park because of the ambassador program. This was my first trail race and let me say that it did not disappoint. From the start to the end the race was very well organized I picked up my bib on the day of the race and we had no issues. With the bib i was also given a reusable cup that i needed to use on the course for hydrating which i thought was quite nice and practical as I could see myself using this post race. The race had available washrooms and a ton of parking and the race entry gets one car free access to the provincial park.
This race has the options of running a 12k loop 1 – 5 times or 8 times (that has a 24 hour cut off). The course is quite nice with some nice views. There is a bit of a climb near the tail end of the loop so just be sure to leave some gas in the tank for that. Funny enough they had a photographer lined up at the top to grab some candid photos of us trying to complete the climb. The volunteers/runners were all so supportive and positive. The nutrition at the race blew me away as I am more use to eating gels or chews during races. During this race we were being given REAL food like chips, cookies, fruits, uncrustables, coke and once the race is over you are also given a nice burger or hot dog.
If anyone is debating on signing up for a trail race I highly recommend this one.
