I bought this Smartwool Merino 250 base layer crew specifically for my winter runs and my skiing days. But because of merino wool’s odour resistance, UV protection, moisture-wicking properties and the fact that the colour is nice, I have worn it as a layer outside of my runs.
PROS: I love this base layer because even though it’s thinner, it’s still good to be worn alone under a warm jacket. It is good at wicking sweat away from my body, it doesn’t chafe at the seams and it takes a long time for it to be smelly and so I don’t have to wash them as often.
CONS: I don’t find it as soft as I would like, but for something that has wool in it, you can’t get around that. It’s also relatively expensive for a base layer and so its affordability is not great.
But if you can have one or two pieces of merino wool, then this is your go-to piece! It’s a long-standing brand that specializes in merino wool clothing.
