About Me: I have been participating in running, mountain biking and triathlon events since 1996. My first race ever was the YMCA Corporate Team Challenge and it grew from there.
Sports: Currently I'm actively participating in the following sports: Triathlon, Running, Mountain Biking, Road Biking and Swimming (a necessary evil).
Athletic Goals: I'm currently focusing on Ironman triathlon with the following goals: (1) Finish under 10 hours, (2) Qualify for Kona and (3) Finish before my girlfriend (Linnea Humphrey) which is the hardest goal of all :-)
My most catastrophic racing experience was: Well, I have had a number of catastrophic experiences, but probably the most difficult in terms of obstacles to overcome on race day and not achieving your goal was racing Ironman Florida in 2009. My goal was to finish under 10 hours, as a redemption race for a really difficult Ironman Canada a few months earlier. Had a great swim (for me!), a sub 5 hour bike, but 200m into the run it was over - I couldn't breath, started coughing up foamy stuff and ended up walking the entire marathon. Turns out I had succumbed to the Flu of the day at the worst possible time - H1N1 - the so called "Swine Flu".
My most memorable racing experience was: Qualifying for the Boston Marathon in 2001! Felt like I could do anything after accomplishing that - and the best was yet to come.
Favourite Racing Gear: Love ASICS and K-Swiss Blade Lights!
Favourite Race Food: My favourite drink is Eload (lemon) and favourite gel is GU (vanilla bean).
