My most catastrophic racing experience was: I haven't really had a catastrophic experience to date, but Jason Vurma multisport triathlon series sure did put together a mean bike course at the Collingwood long course in 2004!! I don't think I have ever run slower post cycle than that day!
My most memorable racing experience was: I can remember something from every race, but the best one would be my first international race in Sweden last summer. I had prepared so much not really knowing what to expect. I was at a whole new level now. I just had the most AMAZING race from start to finish. I had an awesome swim, the fastest transition of all female competitors overall like that really matters in a 7 hour race!! and the bike was fantastic, and normally this isn't an area that is strong for me, but despite the hail and rain, the time flew by! As I came around for the last kilometer of the race, I felt suddenly so light on my feet, I was running pretty hard, and I think the realization of what I was about to accomplish had just hit me. I was going to finish this monster race! I was feeling great! I was going to win a silver medal in my age group and finish in the top ten females! I was going to shock my family, my friends, my coach, and myself! It was an incredible feeling to come across that finish line carrying a big Canadian flag. I was so proud of myself that I had managed to pull everything together perfectly for that day!
Favourite Racing Gear: Mizuno Wave Riders- what great hearty and light shoes!
Favourite Race Food: RASPBERRY CLIF SHOTS! I could eat them every day!
