Athletic Goals: Ironman Florida November 2009
My most catastrophic racing experience was: The Ottawa Marathon of 2004. It was my second marathon & I was hoping for a 4:15. I suffered from about 7k on, from the heat & nausea & dizziness. I had to walk alot just to keep moving. My daughter advised me to stop at the half when I crossed in 2:24, but I said I was there to finish, no matter what. It is pretty deflating when the speed walkers pass you, but I did manage to finish in 5:13:41. And I declared that I would never run a marathon again. But of course I did! Can't let one race get you down!
My most memorable racing experience was: Running the Boston Marathon was definitely something worth experiencing. I ran the full gamut of emotions during the race from the pain of cramped calves, to the exhilaration of joy crossing the finish line. The spectators are unbelievable along the entire route, cheering & screaming for each & every runner. And to be able to share it with family & friends was the icing on the cake!
