About Me: I started running at Running Free in 1999 by joining a half marathon clinic and having run a maximum distance of around 5 km at that point. I completed the Peterborough half marathon half-way through the clinic and was convinced by John at Running Free to go for the full marathon distance. The rest is history, so they say, with somewhere close to 20 marathons and too many shorter races to remember.
Sports: Running, skate skiing, swimming, hiking and tickling
Athletic Goals: Since the kids arrived in 2007 and 2009, I've done much less running and even less racing. I hope to run few half marathons, possibly the Hamilton 30K and maybe even a full marathon in 2014.
My most catastrophic racing experience was: My first marathon was in London, Ontario in 1999. I had trained for 16 weeks in preparation but I didn't drink nearly enough during the race - they were using an Amway sports drink (they were a sponsor) that was awful so I didn't drink enough - and ended up walking quite a bit during the last 10 KM. Once I was close to the finish, I was able to work up enough will power to run into the UWO stadium and finish the race at least looking like I had run the whole way.
My most memorable racing experience was: Qualifying for Boston at the 2004 Mississauga marathon was by far the most memorable race I've had. The conditions for the race were perfect with a temperature around 10 C at the start of the race.
Favourite Racing Gear: Sugoi Team Running Free gear.
Favourite Race: Mississauga Marathon
Favourite Race Food: Can't do anything without a coffee first

This isn’t some get-fit-quick scheme. I’m really refering to training for marathons by running only three days a week. When
I tend to think of the Around the Bay race as either the last race of the winter season or
