About Me: I have been running for about 8 years. Before that, I was a reasonably active, but overweight man in his forties, pushing 220 lbs. I managed to lose about 45 pounds and began to find a way to keep the pounds off, so I started working out at the gym. I eventually met a running group, the Road Dawgs, who got me into training for marathons seriously, and I was fortunate enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon on my first try (by 6 seconds no less!). I have since run Boston 5 years in a row and am going for six in 2011. Running has really changed my lifestyle and has resulted in meeting many great athletes and now fortunate to be a member of Team Running Free.
Sports: Running in road races for the most part, but like to cycle when I can.
Athletic Goals: I would like to keep running as long as I can and be healthy. I am fortunate to currently be competitive in my age group and that tends to keep me motivated to train and stay fit.
My most catastrophic racing experience was: Has to be Chicago in 2007 when it was so hot and humid. I had such high expectations for a good finishing time, but couldn't manage it with the heat.
My most memorable racing experience was: My first Boston Marathon. This was only my third and the biggest I had run and it was a super experience. I never realized how much well organized an event can be and satisfying to run. The spectators provide so much support it's unbelievable. A great experience I would recommend to any marathoner as a goal.
Favourite Race: Boston Marathon
