About Me: Growing up I was always a fairly athletic person. I figure skated (freeskate & synchronized) competitively for a solid 15+ years of my life, played soccer for 5 years and was even apart of my middle school and high school volleyball & badminton teams. I guess College rolled around and one thing lead to another… I pretty much stopped being active all together! Luckily, in my last year of school, I met my boyfriend (now Husband), Richard. He got me back out to the gym and has inspired me to live a very healthy lifestyle and to stay active! When we moved to Milton together, we were on a hunt to find a sport that was fun and that we could do together.
Sports: Running & Yoga. :).
Athletic Goals: Would be happy to break a 1:40 Half Marathon and a 3:25 Marathon in 2013.
My most catastrophic racing experience was: Definitely The Canadian Evening Marathon 2011 in Ottawa. Hot and Humid night - keeping pace was extremely difficult. A long, hard and very painful 42.2km's... & Boston 2012, choice to defer or run? RUN!
My most memorable racing experience was: My most memorable racing experience has definitely got to be my first half marathon; Hamilton Road2Hope 2010. I started running more consistantley at the beginning of August 2010 but because I had only been running for a few short months, I didn't really know how or what to base my goal time around. I decided on a 2:00:00 goal time and ran with it. My boyfriend (now Husband) & athletic inspiration, Richard, decided to run beside me. Without him, I definitely would have struggled to overcome the race mentally. But he got me through all the tough parts and I was able to cross the finish with a time of 1:52:43!
Favourite Racing Gear: Couldn't run without my Garmin 405! Love my Newton Racers.
Favourite Race: Mississauga Marathon (for now...)
Favourite Race Food: The Vega Sport Line has recently taken over my cabinets.
