Sports: Swim - bike - run! Individually or together! and like any good Canadian Hockey is up on top of that list too!
Athletic Goals: This years goals are to hit a PR on a marathon and to chase down a sport to Kona by taking the podium in my age group at Ironman Canada.
My most catastrophic racing experience was: Luckily I've never had a catastrophic race experience. Bad things have happened while on the course but I try to take everything in stride and be appreciative that I'm able to compete and learn.
My most memorable racing experience was: The feeling I got coming down the carpet at Ironman Canada Last year and finally living a moment I had been dreaming of for a long time, hearing the announcer finally call out "Matt Durand...you, for the first time, are an Ironman".
Favourite Racing Gear: My current favourite piece of gear is my Smith Podium TT helmet. The helmet retails at a great price and is extremely comfortable and breathable. Most importantly it looks and feels fast and that alone almost always leads to a faster time. Look good, feel good; feel good, race good.
Favourite Race: Smiths Falls Classic
Favourite Race Food: Pre-race dinner is always pasta! Right before the race though its always lemon-lime gatorade, 3 cliff blocks, a bagel and a bowl of vector! After a race my favourite food is whatever I see first.
